Find Sponsoring Churches

Every team member will also find his/her “sponsoring church” during this time. A “sponsoring church” is that congregation that will become the main financial and spiritual supporter, and whose eldership will also provide spiritual oversight of the missionary during the life of the mission. Several months will be spent with the sponsoring church prior to actually leaving for the field. A written ‘working agreement’, giving details of mutual understanding and responsibility, will be produced between the missionary and his/her sponsoring church prior to leaving for the field. Regular reports will be sent back from the field to the sponsoring church, as well as periodic visits by church representatives to the field.

At this point the recruiting phase comes to an end, and the new mission team begins its 6-month “Missionary Team Internship” prior to leaving for the field.
