First Year on the Field
Refine Team Strategy and Prepare for Church Plant
As the team makes progress in language and cultural adjustments, they begin to do more research into the new city.
- They will then re-evaluate their strategy for church planting.
- From there they move to defining exactly when, where, and how they will plant the new church.
It is during this time period, about the 8th month, that a GCM Staff member will visit the team.
- The purpose of this visit is to make sure that all missionary personnel are doing well with the new environment and are coming out of culture shock with positive attitudes and focus.
- It is important to make sure there are no serious team or individual conflicts.
- Another objective of this visit will be to help the team secure an adequate, well-located meeting place in which to begin their church establishing work.
- This is an exciting time. After many years of intensive labor and preparation, the launching of the new congregation is very close and the team members are high on the aspect of putting the church planting strategies to work!
